1530 Policy Impact Panel:
- Dr Judith Townend, Deputy Director, CIGR, and lecturer in media and information law at the University of Sussex. She was previously lecturer in information law and the director of the Information Law and Policy Centre at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. Her academic work is concerned with the impact of communications and media policy on the protection of public interest journalism and access to courts data.
- Javier Ruiz, Policy Director, Open Rights Group: worked on Open Data, including being part of an advisory group to Ministry of Justice on transposition of EU Public Sector Information Directive. He engaged in the UK Data Sharing open policy project at the UK Cabinet Office, engaged in advocacy at EU and UK level on EU General Data Protection Regulation and e-Privacy and recently contributed to the Open Source aspects of the Digital Strategy of the Council of Barcelona.
- Prof Matwyshyn will speak about her activities lobbying in Washington D.C. before Congress, and her advisory role at the Federal Trade Commission, notably on information security legislation such as CFAA and DMCA research exceptions for e.g. voting machine security including linking legislative reform to the DEF CON Voting Village, and flaws in so-called "hack back" laws
- Prof Marsden will speak about advising governments on cyberlaw topics such as net neutrality and media ownership, telecoms law reform, disinformation and electoral law, focusing on multi-year campaigns influencing regional (EC, Council of Europe) and plurilateral (OECD, OSCE) institutions:
